My next painting is based on this photo of a peepal tree from our neighbourhood. Its trunk is just amazing.
The leaves I plan to mark with masking fluid directly.
The greens and some of the petal colors need strengthening but this is how it looks like at this point:
I did not stretch this paper before painting and this is why the over all appearance looks a little different – satiny. The water floats on top of the paper without being absorbed for a longer time and I took advantage of this by doing the petals in a single wet in wet wash (or two for the larger ones). The greens are Schminke’s sap green, raw sienna, pthalo blue and ruby red.
These are mostly single washes of Schminke’s indian yellow, aureolin yellow, pthalo blue, ruby red and sap green.
